A Program for Women by Women
Westfork Sportsman Club, Avalanche Wisconsin
WI Women Fish and Southern Wisconsin Trout Unlimited are excited to offer a three day Women’s Fly Fishing Workshop. The workshop will include how to choose equipment, knot tying, casting, reading the water, stream ecology, matching the hatch and more. You will learn new tactics, regardless of your level of ability. The lead instructor is Nikki Seger, a professional Fly Fishing instructor. We will be fishing rivers in the Kickapoo River system and you can bring your own equipment or loaner equipment will be provided. If you bring your own equipment, a floating 4 or 5 weight line is recommended.
The workshop also includes a DNR stream shocking and etymology inventory where you can see what food sources are available to the trout and how to incorporate that information into your fishing tactics. In addition to hands on instruction, Women will get a chance to fish a variety of streams in the area and have a river buddy leading the way. People are still talking about the success of last years clinic, and if you want to learn more, there is a presentation on the clinic on April 12th at the Coliseum Bar in Madison WI.
The Fly Fishing workshop starts mid day on Friday, June 17th and continues through mid day on Sunday, June 19th. The Westfork Sportsman Club has a great campground and all camping fee’s are included in the clinic costs. There is a bathroom with showers on site. All meals are included starting with Friday night dinner and continuing through lunch on Sunday. Last years participants were surprised at the quality of the food they were offered. The Sportsman’s Club has a kitchen facility and meeting area that will be our home base. You are welcome to find your own lodging nearby if you choose not to camp. Here is one possibility. http://www.vernoninnandsuites.com/
