Spring walleye fishing is one of our favorites and so is Red Banks Resort. This small seven cabin resort and bar is a very fun place. The owners Bob and Rita treat us very good and we can’t wait to get back there this spring.
One good thing about this place is there is great fishing from shore as well as from boats. In addition to the great fishing, we have some really fun stuff planned. The cabins are very nice and they are right on the water. Each one is a two bedroom a queen in one bedroom and two twins in the other. There is a lot of dock space for fishing and if you want to leave your boat on the dock for a nightly fee. Feel free to come and join in the fun even if you do not stay at the resort. They do charge a small fee for fishing from the pier if you are not a guest.
We will arrive on Friday. The resort does serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cabins do have full kitchens. The resort owner, Bob, does a very good job of pointing us in the right direction and sharing tips and tricks of how to catch fish during that time of year. A common method of fishing is a Wolf River Rig. Bob has tackle and bait for sale right in the bar.
On Saturday we will have a little fishing contest. The contest is $5 and both shore and boat anglers can enter. It is for the BIGGEST walleye. We will have a weigh station on shore, and fish can be released after they are measured. Winner get 75% of the pot and 2nd place gets 25%. Last year the shore anglers caught more fish than the boat anglers. Contest is open to club members only.
On Saturday night, we will have an Easter Bonnet contest in the bar. Decorate your Easter Bonnet in any fashion you want and we will have a special prize for the winner. The awards for the fishing contest and the Bonnet contest will be given Saturday night. We love this place and have a great time here. We wish it was bigger so more could attend but we will just have to make it first come first serve. Registration will become live on 2/6. Here is our flexible schedule so far.

Currently it is near the end of March and the river is still locked up with ice. There is a boat launch right at the resort. The launch and the resort are located right on the bed of the river. This makes it an excellent fishing area but the current can get a little strong in this area. There is a municipal launch in Fremont WI that may be an easier place to launch your boat. You can then boat up to Red banks which is not that far of a ride. There is overnight boat parking at Red Banks piers for a small fee. We will be updating all who are registered on the latest in river conditions and fishing reports.
If you have difficulty with registration please call Teresa at 507-254-1356.
