Join us for a member led event to fish Lake Winnebago. What a great fishing resource this lake is. From Wikipedia “Lake Winnebago is one of the more heavily fished lakes in the state.[4] Many fishermen consider it one of the nation’s top walleye fisheries. Other species present include bluegill, largemouth bass, muskellunge, northern pike, perch, burbot, white bass, crappie, freshwater drum, channel catfish, flathead catfish, and smallmouth bass. In June 2010, Oshkosh hosted an event recognized by Guinness World Records as history’s largest fishing tournament. A 2007 study put the economic value of recreational fishing at approximately $300 million per year.”
Often, anglers new to the area can be intimated on this large body of water. It has a system of marked roads that are maintained by local fishing clubs but we NEVER take safe ice for granted and ALWAYS check the ice ourselves. We are lucky enough to have some very skilled anglers to help lead the way for a great day of fishing. The official day is Saturday, but members will be communicating on the members only page to make plans to fish a day before or after the official event.
On this member lead trip, you will be self sufficient and come ready to fish. Remember the club has loaner gear available and you can check it out for this event, any event or just to take your family out for the day. Exact launching location will be determined once its get closer. More detailed planning and discussing the current bite as well as launching location will be determined. On Ice transportation is not provided, but be sure to engage on the members only page to find out what the current ice conditions and departure location is. Save the date. More info posted soon.
