4th Annual Border Battle
WI Women Fish vs. Women Anglers of Minnesota
This is a fun event with our sister club. We gather on the Fishing Barge that separates WI and MN. Either license will work. We have a fun contest and the two groups battle it out. I am happy to say that WI Women Fish has won three years in a row. Woot!! I hear they the MN team is forming a posse and are planing on taking the trophy home with them.
Clements Barge is open from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (These are the hours the barge are open, you can fish when ever you want. Contest is from 9:00-3:00). The barges charges $20 payable to Clements Barge when you arrive, also, bring $3 to enter into the big fish contests. Cash prize awarded to biggest fish in each category; walleye/sauger, northern pike, and perch. WAM is donating a $50 gift card to biggest overall fish.
WI WOMEN FISH IS NOT REQUIRING PRE REGISTRATION. SIGN IN WHEN YOU GET THERE.
This is a great event to invite your family to. The barge welcomes everyone, but only official members can enter fish in the tournament. The barge fills up with all sorts of people so getting there early is a must. To access the barge, you have to walk down a steep flight of stairs. The barge is NOT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE. There is a flag pole on shore to let the barge know that you need a ride out. When they see the flag they will come across and give you a ride out. There is a café on the barge, however you are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. Bring your own chair, fishing pole, tackle and bait. This event is one you want to pack very light. They do sell tackle on the barge, but no live bait.
Anglers are encouraged to use proper fish handling techniques and are asked to consider catch and release with the large females full of eggs. WI fish consumption advisory is on meal per week of Pike and Walleye from this area for women over 50, and one meal per month for women under age 50.
Lodging is on your own, check out the Lacrosse Area or other accommodations in the Genoa, WI area.
