Fish Camp 2017
We are having our 11th annual Fish Camp in Butternut WI this year. This year our Motto is “ We are better together.” The friendships we’ve made, the skills we’ve improved and the support for each has developed into something special.
Once again we are using three resorts on the beautiful Turtle Flambeau Flowage. The group space we have is perfect and the feedback we got last year was that this venue was the best location we have had, however, we do have to limit our numbers to 70 total attendees.
Some will choose to arrive Thursday night. Join us in the bar at Donner’s resort for a seminar from local guide ….. and learn the basics for fishing this specific water. Last year, and again this past winter, our members caught lots of nice crappies. There are perch, walleye, bass and musky present. The vast water offers some good numbers of fish.
NEW THIS YEAR!!
On Friday morning we are offering a Fishing Basics Boot Camp. We will have 10 spots available for an intensive morning workshop. You will be loaned a new rod and reel. Learn how to choose a good combo, pick line, spool it on, cast, and several basic rigs to get you well on your way to catching fish. This class is for new anglers. After the class we are jumping on boats and hitting the water. This will be a good start to the weekend. I know some of you that have been around for awhile will want to participate to refresh your skills, but please do not sign up for this class unless you are a new angler and have caught less than 20 fish on your own. It some spots do not fill, I will open it up to others. The new rod combos will be available to purchase after the class. Boot Camp is reserved for Fish Camp attendees only.
We are offering more classes this year based on the request of the members. I have been taking surveys on our members only facebook page and the class topics will be decided based on the requests of those attending.
Some people will arrive on Friday. All rooming assignments will be done ahead of time. Check in, unpack and get ready for a fun weekend. The opening ceremony of the weekend starts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. We will start our seminars Friday night. We are trying to leave room in the mornings and evening so instructors and attendees can fish during the peak times. Coming Thursday night and staying over on Sunday night is also an option.

Set up, take down, group meal, boat launching, clean up, and many other things need to get done. It usually runs like a finely oiled machine, due to the great women who know how to get things done. This event is the one that everyone looks forward to over the course of the year. I hope you can make it.
